What to Expect
Initial Examination
At this appointment, we will perform a complete orthodontic examination. We will discuss any orthodontic problems that you present with or that you are concerned about. We will discuss whether treatment is indicated at the present time or in the future and the most appropriate timing of treatment. This appointment usually takes about 30 minutes and we will make sure you have plenty of time to ask questions.
Orthodontic fees are based on the complexity of the problem to be corrected. At the initial examination we will give you an estimate for the indicated treatment but cannot finalize this fee until the entire diagnosis and treatment plan is determined. We will be honest and forthright with our fees and there will be no surprise!
If treatment is indicated at this time, we will need to set two additional appointments. One to gather the diagnostic information we need to completely analyze your orthodontic problems. A second appointment will allow us to consult with you regarding the proposed treatment plan.
Diagnostic Records
The diagnostic records include photos of the patient's face and teeth, plaster study models of the teeth and radiographs (x-rays) of your teeth and jaws. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for you. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Consultation
After we have analyzed the diagnostic records, we will consult with you regarding the proposed treatment in detail. You will be given the opportunity to get answers to any questions which you may have in order to make an informed decision regarding orthodontic treatment. Fees will also be discussed, as well as payment options. If you have orthodontic insurance, we will discuss how to maximize your benefits.
After the consultation appointment, if you decide to proceed with our treatment recommendations, we will set the necessary appointments to start your treatment.
